As winner of the Artists International Competition, pianist Robin Freund Epstein played a Carnegie Recital Hall debut in 1999. She is a graduate of the Manhattan School Music where she studied with Solomon Mikowsky. Previous piano studies were with Amelia Gigliotti and Fiorella Canin. Robin was a founding member of the Olmsted Trio and Bohemian Chamber Ensemble and guest artist with the American Chamber Players. She has appeared as soloist with the Brooklyn Symphony, Bay Atlantic Symphony, and Atlantic Chamber Orchestra, and has performed at such venues as Lincoln Center Library, Trinity Church, Shandelee Music Festival, Tenri Cultural Institute, Spanish Institute of New York, Stockton Performing Arts Center, and at Bard College in collaboration with poet Robert Kelly. Robin recorded the piano music for the HBO film Mildred Pierce and coached the actresses in the simulation of piano playing. She also worked as a set consultant for director Todd Haynes, and recorded soundtrack selections for the Varese Sarabande label. Robin is a member of the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College piano and chamber music faculty. Born in Atlantic City, she presently resides in New York City and in Dutchess County, New York with her husband, Steven Epstein, and dog, Shelley.
